I haven't been there since they replaced the chair. Interesting charlift that they have there. It has a conveyor belt for loading people.
I've seen quite a few adventures on that conveyer belt. Its a good chair though. Never experienced the old one.

So you can’t do anything in town because of covid. And the ski hills are too busy to go to. And the backcountry is too dangerous. Welcome 2021.

Also pouring rain outside...which should persist until we see a brief break on Monday before more showers and drizzle next week. It would be tolerable if we could go outside without getting drenched. A 2015 Jan-Feb ridgefest would be perfect this year.

The last clear day we saw was December 23rd.

Good news is the EPS is still showing a pattern change that brings more positive heights to Western NA. Definitely need some dry.

I'm getting very strong wind gusts. Just saw that YXX recently recorded an 88 km/h gust.

Maybe when Environment Canada issues a wind warning the winds will calm down?

Yeah , the EC weather app is a joke for my area , no temperature or dew point for White Rock or South Surrey , nothing for Tsawwassen either, but they're kind enough to give me the wind speed and weather forecasts
And yet I can get all the white rock details on my samsung phone weather widget (The weather channel). My tablet is even better as the Accuweather widget gives me all the details from 3 weather stations near me , White Rock,South Surrey, and Sunnyside.

I understand technical problems occur, but I just wondered why there was so much missing data. Oh well.

Environment Canada's historical data is still a really helpful resource.

AbbyJr wrote: Sat Jan 02, 2021 10:19 am Exactly. The long range models won't pick up on the SSW until after its complete. What we are seeing in the models now is totally consistent with a Siberian SSW event. Michael Ventrice showed this in his video. I'll post another link to it in the "Weather Links" thread.

But I am baffled why so many people are convinced this SSW won't effect North America and or the PNW, when history tells us its rare for one of these events to not deliver the goods for us.
Thanks for sharing the video. I did learn from it and now understand how the SSW affects us. It sounds we still have a chance around late Jan. Fingers crossed.

Yes, now it's getting pretty windy here as well.
Should have had a wind warning. Power outages also are popping up on BC Hydro's site.
EC's weather app is trash. Like you Gumps, it shows nothing for my area. I can get better results looking at WeatherUndergrad with whatever is left of that useless site.

If you're at the beach the new health food store on marine and oxford st have some awesome hot chocolate alternatives, the one with beets was really good , the downside is it takes a while for them to make it.
