Back then the best team in the west played the best team in the east for the cup because there was no airplane travel so they couldn't be in the same league. The east league was the NHA, which was the exact same thing as the NHL. They changed the name as a loophole of kicking the Toronto owner out of the league (started a new league with the same players and owners, but didn't invite the Toronto owner).

And Vancouver beat the top NHA team that year.

Also, check out Ovi and Matthews... no one in NHL history (well, since the 1930s) has scored more goals/game at specific ages and above. And it's not even close! Of course, their numbers will go down as they age, but still, here they are for now.

It all depends Glace and Gumps was John around to verify that 1915 Millionaires win. :shifty:

Not sure if any sportscasters mentioned it tonight but my son just texted me saying Canucks actually control their own destiny now. So I did the math and looked up tiebreakers and sure enough he's correct, they can finish 3rd in their division. But still gotta run the table , LA seem to have the easiest remaining games, Canucks and Vegas have it tougher.

Yes Brendan Bachelor and Corey Hirsch mentioned it on the radio broadcast.
Not only that Q Hughes is closing in on Dennis Kearns record for assists and then the all time record for Knuckles D man is Dougie Lidster, absolutely amazing. :o

Ovechkin is closing in on 50 goals. Johnny Bucyk was 35 when he scored 51. No one older has scored 50.

Big win for the Canucks last night against the Stars. Hopefully they can put together another win tonight. To be honest, regardless as to whether or not they find a way to miraculously make the playoffs, I'm so proud to be a Canucks fan. This team including the coaching staff deserves a lot of respect. They have battled so hard to get back into the playoff race and so far their efforts have paid off. However, there is still a tough hill to climb but like I said, they deserve a lot of respect regardless of the final outcome. Bruce Boudreau definitely deserves a contract extension. He has turned this team around quickly and given them so much confidence. While I understand most GM's like to choose their own coach, it would be absolutely shocking to see the Canucks make a coaching change in the offseason given how well Boudreau has done with the team. :D

Welp Kells shootout loss to the Sens 4-3 absolutely stings big time, that may be the end of the playoff run. :(

I still have lots of respect for Bruce Boudreau and want him to get a contract extension. However, I would like to know why in the world he put Petan in over someone like Hughes or Podkolzin for the shootout. Makes no sense to me. :?

Win was there for the taking after the absolute domination during much of the second period. Still am shocked the boys couldn't add at least a couple goals at that point. Oh well, luck was on the Senators side tonight.

LA won in regulation tonight so even with the extra point for the Canucks, they would still have had a tall mountain to climb for the playoffs. Now the mountain is even taller. Still some post season hope but tonight did not help them at all. Thankfully we did get a point out of this but it is frustrating when the Canucks had enough chances to easily win this in regulation. Unfortunately, no puck luck.

Not to mention Meyers hitting the post with a minute left that most likely would have won them the game.
I must say I was a little worried about this game being against a weaker team ,and right after a big emotional win over Dallas.
So now they gotta beat 2 very good teams,Calgary and Minnesota on the road. We'll know for sure after this weekend whether they still have a legitimate shot.
