Re: May 2020 Forecasts and Discussion
Just took a late afternoon bike ride. Feels like summer! High of 26°C at KBLI today.
It's called clown range for a reason.

Re: May 2020 Forecasts and Discussion
You seem a bit high; is your station overexposed? Would you have a photo of your station please?
I would say the Tx was around 26/27C here in the Tri-City area.
27.9C in Squamish
27.7C in Hope
27.3C in Pitt Meadows (overexposed)
26.5C in Abbotsford
26.1C in Agassiz
25.6C in White Rock
25.2C in Delta
24.1C in West Vancouver
21.9C in Vancouver Harbour
20.7C in Vancouver Airport
By the way, I saw a bear during my bike trip this afternoon.

Plus. I'm willing to bet we wouldve hit 30 in 2017 and w018 if not for that smoke.

My station is nothing special...just one of those ones you get in a national geographic set. Small thermometer linked to a larger device which also measures indoor temps. Most stations around here on weather underground peaked around 27-29C so I don't think mine was too far off.

Re: May 2020 Forecasts and Discussion
For sure. That early September 2017 airmass was insane... YVR would have blown past 30C with that one had it not been for the smoke. Early August 2018 too.

I meant its exact location. I don't trust very much most of the stations on Wunderground.Typeing3 wrote: ↑Fri May 08, 2020 8:53 pm My station is nothing special...just one of those ones you get in a national geographic set. I don't think temperature rose above 26/27C here.

Re: May 2020 Forecasts and Discussion
It's about 6ft above the ground on the siding on the north facing side of the house...fairly sheltered from direct sunlight. I'd say it's generally fairly accurate (about 2C error either way).Canada Goose wrote: ↑Fri May 08, 2020 9:01 pm I meant its exact location. Re: May 2020 Forecasts and Discussion
Oh, I see.
I know that everyone does what they can by installing a weather station at home, but you can't compare your readings with those of a good EC station (which is unfortunately not the norm... ).
West Vancouver, White Rock, Pitt Meadows and Whistler (for example) are not good stations (overexposed).
Hope, Pemberton, Abbotsford, Port Moody and YVR are good or pretty good.
For Agassiz and Delta, it's unknown.
Overall, Canadian weather network is in really bad shape: less and less stations and a lot of them have not good locations.
We need to be critical in front of all readings; this is my rule. This is not an attack on anyone but only a question of accurate data.
It's already 20.7C in Solander Island! 15C in YVR.
Today and tomorrow will probably bring some records.

Re: May 2020 Forecasts and Discussion
Did you say hi to Mr. Bear? I used to run into bears all the time. They would mostly just run away. The closest I got to a black bear was on the other side of a blueberry bush.Canada Goose wrote: ↑Fri May 08, 2020 6:24 pm You seem a bit high; is your station overexposed? Yes, I stood to watch it during at least 5 minutes.stuffradio wrote: ↑Sat May 09, 2020 9:31 am Did you say hi to Mr. Bear? I used to run into bears all the time. They would mostly just run away. The closest I got to a black bear was on the other side of a blueberry bush.

Nice. I saw a grizzly at manning last year with wife and sister...It was pretty spectacular. Nicely socially distant to boot.

Well it's a little more rare but I like seeing any mega fauna. Still waiting to see a moose in the wild.Canada Goose wrote: ↑Sat May 09, 2020 12:33 pm Oh, a grizzly is way more impressive I guess...
