Chafer beetle. It’s bad around here as well.

Talk about low dewpoint and wind...wow. I was at my home away from home in the Similkameen and the N wind was howling all day yesterday. Same thing..mildish air temp at around 5C, but bone dry air. The modified arctic air set up and high latitude Blocking sets up well for that area. It is inland enough to escape the mild Pacific air.
And here it is..December 2024 all snow geeks have been waiting for :silent: ..with the LR weather "charts" calling for a cold and snowy month. Where's the troffing? :silent: :silent:

I was just coming here to comment on humidity. VERY DRY. We're talking under 20% relative humidity at a time of year where it's normally more like 70%. Kelowna was at 16% yesterday, which is about as low as it was all summer.

The humidity meter at BC's driest weather station (Ashcroft) died last month so it was likely closer to 10% there!

The morning humidity on the south coast is perhaps even more impressive. Dew Points below -10. YVR was at -11 and 34% last hour! YXX was -15 and 24% an hour ago!!

Many thanks for the well wishes! And yeah it's really dry, which actually sorta makes the morning chill pleasant. Gorgeous fall day!

European Chafer Beetle , the article below is from 2016 but in my area it seems the damaged lawns have skyrocketed in the past 12-24 months.
