The Minnekada fire is out of control today and grew from 1 ha to 11 ha.

I was on Seymour on Friday for a hike with my family and I rode down the mountain bike trails afterwards. Gorgeous day up there. We also saw a bear and we apparently walked by pretty close without knowing it. There was a couple behind us and their dog chased it up the rocks and then the bear came running back. Scary! The bear backed off thankfully. Walk your dogs on leash people.

I'm loving all this dry weather. I feel for the people who can't water outside but I've decided/come to realize that it's not going any more likely to rain if I feel bad about enjoying the dry weather so why not enjoy it. Last winter was soooo very wet, I remembered why I didn't like winter, the previous ones had been drier so it wasn't as bad.
Surprised no heat warning for the central valley. :wtf:

Geesh Tdry, the heat goes on the precip continues to be kicked down the road.
The pumpkin 🎃 crop is thriving in this ridiculously resilient heat hump.
However l worry the Christmas 🎄 tree crop may suffer this season. :x :cryhard:

Scary! We have loads of bears around our place. We get to know them and we both respect each other. However when we go hiking we always carry an air horn and bear spray as added peace of mind case of an aggressive encounter. One day the mother and her two cubs came right up to our window to check us out. Just caught a video of them leaving

No bears at mount Baker last Saturday, just hordes of people. Cannot remember the last time I hiked in shorts and a T-shirt in October at 1950 meters and it was like 25 degrees. Only slight smoke out that way but you could see it bubble up over Chilliwack and outflow down the valley.

We live in Central Abbotsford so bears are not a common occurrence here. However, there has been at least one bear spotted on several occasions on a trail where we walk our dog. In fact, my mom saw it back in July and came within around 25 feet from it. Thankfully, it turned around and ran the other direction. But from our experience, it’s unusual to have bears in this part of the city. That said, for now we are taking a break from the trail. The bear was spotted again several times recently so it’s obviously still in the area. Usually black bears are harmless but we are not wanting to take the risk of an aggressive encounter.

I grew up in Maple Ridge, and in our area, we have had an ever increasing problem with bears the last 10-15 years. I'm not living there right now but I still have family there. I have had many bear encounters including running into bears that were only about 5 feet in front of me. For example there was a time I was picking berries on our property and I was crouched picking the berries with my dog. I think I heard a noise so I stood up and as I started standing and looking over the bush, there was a bear right there doing the same thing. I had a bear banger in my pocket just because of the bears, so I loaded it, fired it off and ran the opposite direction as the bear was running away as well. I've also had several run ins with bears while running, etc.

There's no end in sight. I didnt even post the temperature outlook as its obviously way warmer than normal. No rain until November or maybe the last week of October. My guess cuz that's what happened in 2002 and 1987 with similar patterns.
