Remembrance Day 1955 is a pretty good high water mark for early season cold waves. If we want to get all carried away with imagining what used to be.
The November 1911 arctic blast was pretty insane. Granted, 1955 was as well but that happened a few days after the main action in 1911.

At the New Westminster station....15cm with the arctic front on the 8th and 9th which dropped temps from a high of 2.2C to a low of -6.1C. Then came the coldest day on the 10th...a high/low of -3.3C/-9.4C.

Temps plunged to -12.4C on the morning of the 11th as the snowstorm moved in during the day. Wasn't quite as impressive as the 48cm in Shawnigan Lake however the storm still dropped just over 30cm in New West.

I just got back from a few days in Kelowna. It was smooth driving until I got to Merrit, then it was starting to rain hard, and as I was driving up the Coquihalla it continued to rain harder and temps dropped to 2. The temps rose back up to 8 eventually and beautiful blue skies within 20-30 minutes of driving and eventually I got back here to 14C and sunny weather!

There are some downright arctic solutions here for November. Crazy!

The only early Nov snow in the 70s came in 1973...2.3cm on November 6th at YVR.

In my opinion, it's way too far to get excited... Wait and see.
