And just like that, CultASS lake is now the hotspot again. 32C in Bella Bella is quite impressive.

Unofficial readings showing mid 30s in Vancouver which is very impressive. Meanwhile YVR is only 26C...

Many upper 30s in E Metro Van and the Fraser Valley. Some stations will indeed hit +40C.

I highly doubt any properly function weather station in the Fraser Valley will hit 40.

Hottest spots right now...

Lytton has a better than 50% chance of hitting 40C, IMO, but Hope and points west will likely fall short.

It's pretty stuffy out there today. The breeze isn't cool, it's warm.

Some heat island effects will boost temperatures at the surface in certain areas and wind patterns will change things too. Much like a cold day, some places can be -8 while 3km down the road it is -2. So which one is correct? Both are.

That said, there are some thermometers that are out to lunch, but those are pretty easy to find.

I'd say without a doubt, many places approached 39 today. Definitely hit 38 and many were in the 36-37 range. The airport temps and protected areas will have lower temps in the green areas while the yellow grass zones will be higher. So when the news comes on and says Langley hit 34 today, you know that isn't right when 99% of thermometers read 36. I know my thermometer at work is next to a concrete tilt up wall. Relatively accurate but being in the shade the warm up and cool down extremes are not as dynamic as it is affected by the proximity of the concrete heat sink 3ft away.
