Do you think the smoke will be thick enough to lower temperatures?wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 25, 2022 12:44 pm Upper level smoke from the SW US. Low level smoke from BC Interior (Lytton). Weak surface outflow will bring it into the region Wednesday.

Re: July 2022 Forecasts and Discussions
True, but day after day after day of highs in the 32 to 38°C range and it gets old. Particularly those 38+°C days where it takes forever to cool down and even at midnight the temperature is above 30. Dryness does help but beyond a certain point it is just hot and miserable no matter how dry it is. Yes Mom's house has two swamp coolers which work great in the dry desert air but one is still stuck spending the day cooped up indoors sheltering from the extreme heat outside.
It's called clown range for a reason.

Remains to be seen. For sure the upper level smoke should impact temps Thurs onwards.
Full on blazing heat tomorrow. Think it will overperform in the Fraser Valley tomorrow with 40C possible.

Re: July 2022 Forecasts and Discussions
I remember it as cooling down more when I was a kid, but then again that was from remote reports; I lived in a small town significantly higher in elevation at the time. It did almost always cool down at night there; in about five years of weather observations I recorded maybe a handful of times where the temperature failed to cool below 60˚F at night. I recorded frosts every month except July and August. I still have the “Six’s thermometer†I used to record maxima and minima.
It's called clown range for a reason.
