Re: Politics
I gotta say I'm pretty disappointed in both major parties' positions on housing affordability. I don't like Trudeau's first-time buyer's incentive, but Scheer's plan is equally bad... perhaps worse.

It's funny how conservatives are so concerned about government debt, but have no problem with citizens racking up more debt.
Needless to say, neither of these idiots will be getting my vote.

Re: Politics
Today on ctv news they said and showed a)Greta criticizing Trudeau b) person throws egg at Trudeau during climate change march c) Trudeau dealing with persistent heckler. Then I watched the CBC national news , no mention of the 3 incidents whatsoever. Once again another example of the biases of the left wing-liberal media.

Re: Politics
The reason housing is so expensive is that:
1) All the regulations and red really makes it hard to get approval to build new housing the big expensive cities (eg. a developer in Kelowna has been trying for years to get a large high-rise building built. First the city rejected it for being too tall, then rejected the revised proposal for being too short.)
2) The tax incentives to build affordable low income apartment housing. Most low income housing was built in the 1970s and 80s when tax incentives were in place.
3) The centralization of government services has gutted rural BC, and put even more pressure on housing in big cities.

Re: Politics
Oct 21 could be a very interesting night (team red,the budget will balance itself) vs (team blue, the climate will balance itself) as it was 4 years ago when against all odds Justin rode to a surprising majority which I don't think the pollsters saw it coming. The fact that people went to cast their vote in advance polling in record numbers surely must be an indication that they are disenchanted with the current government. With all the vote splitting I can see the conservatives come up the middle and race to the finish line and win by a hair.
Nice to see that the election results blackout has been lifted for the West. If they're worried about results swaying some people why not just delay the vote counting until all the polls close. Looking forward to the early results from the Maritimes, should be a good early indication of what the voters are thinking , can't see it going all red again .
Where's John these days? Hope all is well.

Re: Politics
I could see a conservative minority government. Similar to 2006. Both main parties will be around the 130 seat count with a strong showing by the NDP and Bloc picking up about 40 seats each.

Re: Politics
That's a pretty safe guess.I'll go out on a bit of a limb with 170 conservatives , 100 liberals ,and 68 for the rest.
