I have lettuce and spinach in my greenhouse now, figure I'll pull it when, or maybe it should be, IF it gets hot and replace with melons and yams. The lettuce is doing ok the spinach is not too happy and hasn't grown at all since I put it out there a couple of weeks ago.
I seeded mine directly outside, try Olympia spinach from west coast seeds works the best and Dillon lettuce! Melons are tough, last year I had an insane crop

This has been the morning temp for several days already under the influence of this persistent troffing!!
Not to mention it's been all snow up there the last 2 weeks or so. No rain at all..too cold. Some lakes r still ice covered
And here it is..December 2024 all snow geeks have been waiting for :silent: ..with the LR weather "charts" calling for a cold and snowy month. Where's the troffing? :silent: :silent:

Thanks for the tips, I'll try Olympia spinach, our garden store has a good selection of west coast seeds. I've never grown iceberg lettuce, I prefer a butter lettuce. A friend gave me Edox from Vesseys, it's supposed to be the best.

Still cold here and wet and windy, though this morning was nice. The calendar says spring and the skunk cabbage is up, the days are longer so maybe it is? But the temperature sure isn't...

Low of +1 at 5 am in Sechelt and high of +13.8 at 2 pm.
