I just about creamed a wild horse yesterday at 110km/h right by Puntzi Mountain! I saw my life flash in front of me. Horse jumped out the ditch but thankfully I was able to swerve around him.

I didn't stop to take a picture, but here is a picture I did take yesterday.

The wild horses have been in the Chilcotin longer than the whiteman. They speculate that maybe Spanish explorers dropped them off on the coast in the 1500s, but in my opinion, I think they came from Siberia long before Europeans discovered the New World. There's just no way horses could make it from the BC coast to the interior. It's FAR too rugged and wild.

Interesting article. I know a lot of herds do have Spanish blood but am not familiar with the Chilcotin herd. My neighbour has Canadian horses, sturdy little draft horses, can push a fence over in the blink of an eye.  I think it's cool that Canada has a national horse.
