Wow, what a great day for Canada, democracy, and humanity!

It's great to see our leaders looking out for peace, stability, and security in these unprecedented times.

It's wrong period. That is, of course, as long as individuals/groups are not engaged in physical violence themselves.

I'll share this screenshot again since it seems of particular importance of late.

The other part of consistency regarding leniency is definitely fair point. I mostly agree actually. However that certainly in no way justifies the unprecedented implementation of the emergencies act and the extraordinary powers granted to the government that comes with it.
It is amazing how few principles (except for “I want what I want, and I want to get it”) there actually are in politics.

Practically, the easiest way to end the state of emergency would be to peel away the support of the NDP for it. (All of the other parties in the Commons oppose it already.) Which means, like it or not, figuring out how to come up with an angle that appeals to the NDP. I suggest that much of the rhetoric one is currently seeing in opposition to it probably is not the best for such purposes.
It's called clown range for a reason.

Who knows what the "opposition" as a whole really stand for. They say things that appeal to a certain percentage of people but it is hard to trust anyone these days, especially Pierre P.

As for the NDP, their support will not end anytime soon as they are essentially an extension of the Liberal party now and answer to the same masters.

Vote on the emergencies act was also made to be a vote of confidence.

Also: The Canadian civil liberties association maintains their firm opposition to this expansion of government powers.

It's just politics. He was getting too much flack from his peers and it wasn't looking good in the Senate.

Rescinded 2 days after voting on it in the House of Lying Adolescents and a complete reversal on the reasoning. Yeah, not buying anything.

He's trying to save face. Better to revoke it than have the Senate voting it down on you.

Putin is taking Ukraine by force. So many risks involved there. Including 15 nuclear reactors apparently, hopefully they don't take those out.

Other countries will be emboldened. China for sure will do something stupid now. India might go for pakistan. Lots of things that could spiral, leading to conflict between nuclear nations.

Sanctions will cause even worse inflation, not that I disagree with them or anything. They also don't seem to be changing anything.

Honestly its just best for everyone if ukraine laid down but I wouldn't expect them to do that.

The horrifying thing is, they have been laying the groundwork for this for years. Weakening the West's resolve by fracturing its people. Campaigns of disinformation, polarisation, amplifying the echo chambers we are so susceptible to. It's "divide and conquer" in its most cynical and sinister form. And we have fallen for it, because it was politically expedient for the ruling classes, and comfortable for the average media consumer to not have to think.

Just saw this: https://www.ctvnews.ca/world/this-is-ge ... -1.5792619

This is a by-product of the above noted years of planning. A lot of this started off as a meme. It's not funny any longer, and perhaps, it was never meant to be.

Most of the seeds of these problems were originally created by foreign interference by one sole nation, who continue to be and have been by far the most meddlesome across the globe at least in the last hundred years or so. At the end of the day, whoever has the most money and guns ultimately does the talking and pulls the strings whether directly up front or behind the scenes. On that point, other than the up front government financing, we'll never know how much money is pumped into targeted countries behind the scenes.
