Sportsnet.

Yeah he's out. Myocarditis. Just a precaution since it was apparently barely detectable. Better to be safe than sorry though. Posted about this last week but here's some info:
Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann told a pre-match news conference Friday that the problem was detected in the follow-up examination that all players who have had COVID undergo.

“He'll sit out training until further notice. He won't be available, also in the coming weeks,” Nagelsmann said in German.

“The ultrasound shows this myocarditis isn't so dramatic but it's a sign of myocarditis. Still, it has to heal and that will definitely take some time,” he added.

Myocarditis is a mild, temporary condition in the vast majority of cases, according to experts.

Asked if the myocarditis was due to COVID, Nagelsmann said it's hard to tell.

“There are different reasons, especially viral load or the flu, for instance, that can cause cardiac problems,” he said through an interpreter.

“That occurred pre-corona to other players. Now the probability is higher if you combine corona and top athleticism, that might cause other problems. But that's not relevant for us right now. It's not relevant to the treatment. It doesn't matter if Alphonso Davies had this from the flu or Omicron-Delta or whatever. That's not really the decisive factor.

“The situation is that it's absolutely awful, terrible. What can I say? A bad situation for us.”

Also, I read yesterday that our top midfielder (Eustaquio) might be out too. We'll see.

I think so. I would be content with a draw tomorrow to be honest since we're currently 1st in the standings and can afford a couple of off nights. Just gotta avoid a loss, especially considering the next game on Sunday (at home in Hamilton) is against the US.

Final score Honduras 0-2 Canada. What a game!

No Davies or Eustaquio and no problem. Jonathan David's second half goal was one for the highlight reel.

We're almost surely getting in now. If we beat the states we will start to solidify first place. Unreal turns of events. You start to wonder if we could turn heads in Qatar.

As a long time fan of the team, I know to take nothing for granted. Too much pain from the past. But I will admit to first being optimistic ever since the 2017 gold cup.

What's more unreal is the amount of young talent now coming through the system. The CPL has really helped give a chance to many younger players who would formerly maybe have given up without the league. Plus most players seem to want to represent Canada now instead of their ancestral countries like in years past.

Canada 1-0 USA at halftime.

Cyle Larin with the goal, and with that he's now the all time top scorer for Canada. We're also missing two of our best players (Davies and Eustaquio) so if this result stands or even a draw will be a great result.
