We can't have it both ways. Yes the healthcare system is being slammed by Omicron, not because of its severity but its infectiousness (also possibly our tendency to go to the ER a little too quickly) but people are no longer willing to comply with health restrictions and the businesses affected can't take anymore financial hardship. So instead of being mad and saying BH is abandoning us, why not just say that hey she is listening to the citizens of her province and its time for people to take personal responsibility with this virus? Stay home when sick, stop telling sick employees to come in, etc. Restrictions are no longer the way forward.

Consistency is important. When we as citizens move the goalposts, why would we expect the government to do any different?

My take - I agree with her. Enough government coddling, time for people and businesses to step up and stop forcing people to get sick by sending them in and pretending nothing is wrong. Lets actually be a society and stop waiting for the government to tell us what to do. Do the right thing and we will all be so much better off for it.
I agree with most of this. One of the rare moments me and you have ever had consensus on anything covid-related.

I'm not sure why people doubt vaccine efficacy. Its been incredible at preventing severe illness, until omicron which despite being much more vaccine evasive, is still proving quite effective and one of the biggest reasons omicron is considered mild. I will consider that people are frustrated or maybe misunderstood thinking the vaccine would be the be all end all as possible reasons. Either way, restrictions are on the way out.

Now we will see if live music is reinstated, or if the government actually just despises the thought of people dancing and enjoying themselves which was a thing long before covid.

Again... only time will tell. Plenty of restrictions now seem to be normalized, especially things like mandatory masks and vaccine passports. If those are scrapped (i.e. make masks a personal choice and trashing the discriminatory vaccine passports needed to access regular activities) within the next few months then I'll believe restrictions really are on the way out and we can return to some semblance of normality. Otherwise it's just smoke and mirrors by the government and media again.

Mandatory masks were gone last summer before Delta starting taking hold. I see no reason why they won't be gone again as soon as possible. Everybody I know is tired of masks and I believe that government officials do too. In fact you could argue Henry held out on mandatory masks as long as she could until public pressure ramped up.

Vaccinations, we will see. If this wave recedes on schedule as I believe it will, then I would not be surprised to see those restrictions start to go away in the spring. I still don't believe the government takes any pleasure in implementing these restrictions. Look at Kenney when he resisted doing anything about Delta - absolutely terrible polling numbers and a mutiny within his own party. This is why governments are doing these things, its for elections. Just like all decisions they make.

What a chilling headline highlighting the rifts in society. This has been brought to you by supposedly liberal governments using the pandemic to sow division for their own political gain. Scapegoating a sizeable segment of the population will not achieve the desired behavioural changes, it will only back them further into a corner and make them lash out even more. They have normalised and even encouraged hatred of fellow citizens, and now vaccinated people have joined the anti-vaxxers in behaving in an irresponsible and counterproductive manner.
Scott Adams of Dilbert fame says that on every single poll 25% (+/-) get the answer wrong when there's a clearly wrong answer. It's never the same 25% each question, but it's almost guaranteed that 25% are clueless morons on any given topic. This is exactly what we see here.

Unsurprising and pathetic. :silent:

And it just goes on and on instead of extending these why not just say indefinitely. We all know come June 30 it'll be extended until years end,
DBH looked frustrated again today at her presser. Btw Omicron B.A2 is the next variant.
When downloading your vaccine info.was first issued was there talk back then that it would be used for accessing services for the vaxxed only? I can't recall.
