Long range ensembles are okay. We need a better Alaskan ridge for the real good stuff

True..not sure you can do that much better at 10-15 days out though. The southeast ridge is there now too keep in mind.

Yea. It’s pretty good. We will see where the anomaly centres end up as the time frame narrows and ensemble spread tightens. Higher heights in Alaska or a more west based NAO block would help

Looks like overall Feb is cooler than normal with normal to slightly below normal precip.

Re: January 2022 Forecasts and Discussions
If Feb is 3-4c below normal as the map suggests, that would roughly translate to a monthly mean between 1c and 2c for most of the lower mainland.stuffradio wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 1:30 pm ecmwf-weeklies-avg-namer-t2m_c_anom_30day-6006400.png

Re: January 2022 Forecasts and Discussions
I'm not really sure yet, it just feels like time to grow things. So I'm thinking of starting spinach and artichokes, maybe in a couple of weeks. Spinach can go in the greenhouse and artichokes need an early start. Might try lettuce in the greenhouse too after starting it inside.
Do you grow a garden?

Me too! I saw perennial wheat a couple of years ago but haven't been able to find anyone selling seed.moonshadow0825 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 7:01 am you and me both! already looking at some seed companies for new and unusual
What seed catalogues do you have? I have Veseys and West Coast. I was sad that Baker Creek changed their shipping from free to $12 USd. I won't be ordering from them this year. Their Kuroda carrots were the best! I still have some seed so I'm good for this year.

Re: January 2022 Forecasts and Discussions
I've watched a few videos about the volcano and pressure wave on this channel. Lots of really interesting info about the tsunami, including a square wave pattern on the ocean, that's in video #9, the shockwave, etc.
