My friend’s second home in Boston Bar is not only beyond Hope, but you must go through the Hell’s Gate to reach it.
One time when I moved cities Telus asked me what phone number I wanted, and I said 867-5309.
They informed that I could not have that number for two reasons:
1) I didn't live in Boston Bar
2) They don't give out numbers that were made famous in songs.

It was nice to have that blast of winter during the holidays however homeowners in Metro Vancouver barely shovel and salt their front so it becomes treacherous to go on walks. Hoping the rains clear the ice from the sidewalks and side streets because it would be nice to finally exercise.
Actually, about 90% of homeowners here in East Van seem very good about shoveling and salting their front walks. Walking in front of the other 10% was quite treacherous, however. The real problem here is that the City of Vancouver, unlike some suburbs, does virtually nothing about the snow and ice on its side streets. By last weekend, those were solid ice 5–10 cm thick.

Recent LR modeling now less bullish on a cold early Feb. Things could still flip on a dime but less of a signal.
This is somehow turning up to be an absolutely brutal winter for the East. Almost as bad as the 2015 Feb cold wave.
I think there is a long ways to go for the east to be comparing this winter to 2015. December was an epic torch back east. Vancouver beat Toronto handily in ever metric of winter weather

Back when the Bell System was a thing, they could get very pissy about artistic works that mentioned phone numbers. Their PR department gave out numbers in the 555 prefix for those who requested them for such purposes (with the exception of Long Distance Directory Assistance and a few test numbers, the 555 exchange was virtually unused). This is why old movies always have 555 numbers (if phone numbers are mentioned).
It is probably just as well you didn’t get the number. You would have received a lot of crank calls.

What can they do? Every side street is packed with parked cars. You can't plow snow like that. Those streets weren't designed to have that many cars parked like that, there's hardly room to actually drive on them.

I doubt we’re done with lowland snow for the season. That said, what comes may well be fleeting and delivered via marginal set-ups. Even if there is another arctic blast, odds strongly disfavour it being as potent as the one we just got over.
There's no way we're done yet. It's only 3 weeks into winter. Perhaps a bit longer climatologically, however I'm pretty sure this year March will perform (due to the persistence of the cold water in the equatorial pacific). I'll bet we'll even see a few flakes in early April (I'm putting myself out there - but if any season, it will be this one)
On a personal note, I'm done with it all. I want warm, dry and sunshine. Give me the southwest states!

In terms of the intensity of the cold, and temp anomalies...It's getting bad there. Remains to be seen how long this lasts.

I believe April 2011 saw snow on Easter in East Maple Ridge. It didn't really stick though.

Yea. Currently a brutal +2 in Toronto. But it does look to drop down a degree to +1 tomorrow.
Then it does actually get cold for a few days.

Lots of melting progress overnight. Snow and ice are now for the most part gone. Give it another 24 hours of this and only the lingering remains of the largest piles should be left.
Downtown exists in a different world almost. It's been ice free for a few days now. Pretty odd especially when the difference was a lot more noticeable on Monday because my commute is so short.
Dodged a bullet. AR precip hasn't been as intense in the alpine aside from the North Shore. Worst impacts of the AR has been to the Central and Northern Van Island and Central Coast.
Squamish River is running high but Squamish and the Province learned their lesson after the 2003 floods. Some 50 mil to upgrade dykes and add erosion breakers to the river and creeks. It's money well spent to prevent billions of dollars in losses.
