We probably have double that in the central valley Walt.

Ugh! :x it's funny how you get this feeling that winter isn't done and then the more you look at the models that show otherwise you begin to doubt that feeling l guess it's all psychological.

It’s amazing how slow the snow and ice is melting at this rate it will take a month! Hoping for
Some south winds but they don’t seem to come anymore

For those that do not know:

I drove to the Similkameens Sunday morning. WOWWWWW was there a ton of snow in Hope. It looked like the Coquihalla summit on the sides of the road. Plow piles 3-5 feet high in most areas. I am talking right on Hwy 1. And snow depth looked to be around 20-26" consolidated in untouched areas. As i moved beyond Hope(haha), it was a winter wonderland just onto Hwy3 past Hope. Just tons of snow..even more than Hope had.
I also noticed this on Dec 24 while heading up. There was already a ton of snow past Hope then. Like maybe 16-20" compared to only a few inches(3-6") in Hope.
But man it sure looked amazing before it started melting. Now i know what Squamish would have looked like
January 2025 incoming..looks like more Pineapples..Happy New Year!

Depending on how you look at it, we're all beyond Hope ;)

The temperature is above freezing here in the Okanagan for the first time since the 23rd of December.

It was raining and -2 last night. Then it warmed above 0 and turned to snow. So very wet snow on top of ice.

My friend’s second home in Boston Bar is not only beyond Hope, but you must go through the Hell’s Gate to reach it.

Recent LR modeling now less bullish on a cold early Feb. Things could still flip on a dime but less of a signal.

This is somehow turning up to be an absolutely brutal winter for the East. Almost as bad as the 2015 Feb cold wave.

Lots of melting progress overnight. Snow and ice are now for the most part gone. Give it another 24 hours of this and only the lingering remains of the largest piles should be left.

In some ways I would love one more big dump of snow for this winter, but I'm good either way. I haven't been able to go on my outside runs since before Christmas because of the cold/snow/ice.

Are you talking about the EPS? The weeklies still liked the idea of it but it keeps getting pushed back.

It does look like the east gets their turn. Glad we got ours first.

I doubt we’re done with lowland snow for the season. That said, what comes may well be fleeting and delivered via marginal set-ups. Even if there is another arctic blast, odds strongly disfavour it being as potent as the one we just got over.

It was nice to have that blast of winter during the holidays however homeowners in Metro Vancouver barely shovel and salt their front so it becomes treacherous to go on walks. Hoping the rains clear the ice from the sidewalks and side streets because it would be nice to finally exercise.
