I went out tobogganing with my kid, the ice layer made for fast sledding once you got it pushed down. It was relatively dry when we were out. It was fun sliding ice chucks across the surface. -0.5c now. Looks like the cold air is going east in the clown range now and the nice dry ridge is gone. Bad skiing coming up, it was good while it lasted.

Why not try cycling to work, grocery store, anywhere!

We were just tabogganing too, very odd but kind of fun.

Stunning shot of a mid level inversion!

Update: ZR no more here! Above freezing and the melt has begun.
Putting away the shovel for now but I have a feeling I will be using it again in 2-3 weeks. :tiredos:

Snowman wrote: Thu Jan 06, 2022 10:50 am Nice to see everyone getting lots of action this winter! Hope the freezing rain isn't too bad in the valley today, I'll never forget the 2017 event when I was still living in Abby.

This is by far the most snow I've had on the ground since I've moved up here. 17 cm last night which just pushed me to 100 cm this winter, 68 cm which has fallen since December 24th without any melting. Just measured 53 cm on my patio furniture (may be a bit inaccurate due to wind). My driveway piles are as tall as me  .
Excellent move from Donut Central to the Interior for this!  :flakey: :flakey: :flakey:
January 2025 incoming..looks like more Pineapples..Happy New Year!

How much snow and ZR did you get?

Still a tad below freezing here at -0.2c. Looks like about 6-8mm of ice accretion.

I'm ready for a reprieve for the rest of January. We get a new Weeklies update soon. My guess is the last week of the month is when we will get the next shot of winter here.

GEM going for some 10C days while one model I looked at had something between 10-12C! If you're still wanting snow/winter, I will still post those models when they show that too :)

12cm of snow but it was probably 15cm this AM. Just a thin coating of ice. 0.8C.

We got very lucky. This AR would have caused massive flooding in Southern BC.

Where is this heavy rain supposed to come from? I see nothing on the radar except south of Seattle and it’s not moving this way

Patience John, that long firehose is repositioning to take aim over us. Should see the radar fill in by mid afternoon. That's going to be bringing some ice for you and maybe a stray pineapple storm later. The size of this storm though, stretching from Hawaii with the warm front impact the Prairies and Midwest.
