IMO you guys need to stop responding like this if what has been said has annoyed you. There are allowed to be conservative and pessimistic posters here. He may be right, may be wrong, it doesn't matter. The fact of the matter is WE WILL FIND OUT WITHIN 24 HOURS! You have to also realize that people might hedge their bets to protect against the disappointment of a snowfail because it can be really facking disappointing when it happens!
Rubus has been right a few times, wrong a few times. The tone of his posts have been pessmistic but by no means antagonistic. I for one stand for his right to say what he's saying whether its right or wrong. That part for me doesn't matter whatsoever because time will always tell us.
Having said that I really enjoy yours and Stormer's posts but I'm just going to call this one like I see it because its becoming a drag.

Re: January 2022 Forecasts and Discussions
I think the NAM won last night on accuracy then the HRRR. HRRR was off target a bit and a bit over did the fall, but spread map was somewhat reasonable. NAM hit the North shore and spread a bit better though. The others were not so good.

For me, the damage from living in Portland and watching snow chances melt away before they even got to me is real and long-lasting.

A snow lovers addiction to snow is like a thrill-seekers addiction to cocaine.PortKells wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 4:14 pm While there may be localized winners and losers I can't see how anybody could seriously complain about this one so far. Even Typeing got his -10 YVR and another -5 on top of that. We had snow at -12. We had a white christmas followed by an incredible arctic blast, we that slider on December 30th was actually better here than locations south of us which is incredibly rare these days. I would without hesitation say its the best event since 2008 with a shot at 2nd best this century.
But we have had a strange tendency to be negative about the small things. Lack of overrunning events, blah blah. Look at the big picture - we got nailed, the east coast roasted, the timing was perfect. And now there's a chance we go right back into the freezer before or just after the beginning of february. We will be wishing for winters like this as soon as next year, I guarantee it.

Prefer the finer drier powder.
Stash massive piles in their driveway.
Develop paranoia about it becoming liquid.
Start developing OCD with weird tendencies like staring at streetlights at night.
Become angry when it gets taken away from them.

Still high overcast on the local mountains.
It should start snowing up there first.
Keep checking their webcams to help time when snow may start falling down here.
