From the radar, it’s getting shredded to pieces by the Vancouver Island Mountains. Unless the direction its coming from changes, looks like a Monty Special with only very limited amounts for the LM.
It's called clown range for a reason.

Re: January 2022 Forecasts and Discussions
While there may be localized winners and losers I can't see how anybody could seriously complain about this one so far. Even Typeing got his -10 YVR and another -5 on top of that. We had snow at -12. We had a white christmas followed by an incredible arctic blast, we that slider on December 30th was actually better here than locations south of us which is incredibly rare these days. I would without hesitation say its the best event since 2008 with a shot at 2nd best this century.
But we have had a strange tendency to be negative about the small things. Lack of overrunning events, blah blah. Look at the big picture - we got nailed, the east coast roasted, the timing was perfect. And now there's a chance we go right back into the freezer before or just after the beginning of february. We will be wishing for winters like this as soon as next year, I guarantee it.

Come on guys stop writing it off before it even starts. Flakes weren't even supposed to fly until after dinner time.

Re: January 2022 Forecasts and Discussions
Its just what people like to do. We are conditioned to expect the worst. I personally think this one overperforms compared to today's model runs. But if its 10-15 cm then that should be enough to close my work tomorrow anyways and I'll take that.VanCitySouth wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 4:14 pm Come on guys stop writing it off before it even starts. Re: January 2022 Forecasts and Discussions
Agreed. The fact that the cold has already overperformed makes me skeptical of the model runs backing off on the snow totals.

Ensembles still liking the idea of this pattern later this month.

Re: January 2022 Forecasts and Discussions
Best one since 2008. The snow going into it, plus the prolonged cold, plus the December timing, really brought back memories of December 1990 in Seattle, which has always been a cold snap gold standard in my mind.
Catnip’s optimistic signature about this winter came true!
