Storm wrote: Fri Sep 27, 2019 5:06 pm Wow.  to this post. I don't see anything wrong discussing climate on weather forum. People have different opinions nothing wrong with that. Maybe we should ban Nito when we don't agree with his post.
The issue is that people are very passionate about their beliefs on the climate debate and often it causes people to argue and divide. This does not create a positive environment. Sure, we sometimes disagree with each other's posts but typically that's okay. The issue is super controversial and political topics where people hold strong opinions on and are easily offended. The climate debate is one of them. People need to respect that this is a weather forum, not a political and environmental discussion group. If this topic must be discussed, can we at least do it in a clearly labeled separate thread so those who do not wish to discuss it don't feel obligated?

I left the American forums because of the arguing and fighting. I love this group and do not want to have to leave it either. However, I'm really getting tired of the climate debate getting thrown into a thread specifically setup for weather forecast discussions.

STORM already posted a couple numbers... here are a few more across Canada. Impressive turnout in Montreal. Toronto looks pretty low.

I agree it should be kept separate from the main forum, but I don’t see an issue to have a separate area to discuss it? That way those who wish to stay away from the debate can stay out of it.

Did anyone catch the trash/recycling episode on cbc's marketplace last night? Recycling programs are not as they seem. Plastics are not even close to getting recycled. Some gets recycled but most either end up in landfills , incineration plants , or sent to Malaysia where it openly gets burnt releasing toxins into the air and polluting nearby river.

For the skeptics out there I recommend listening to this podcast on the history of climate change and skepticism.

Disgusting isn't it. We need to vastly reduce our addiction to plastic. Also we need to look to Sweden for solutions that they have implemented.
