On the plus side, by this afternoon even the side streets should be substantially free of ice and slush, meaning I will be back on my bicycle.

That's true Rubes as much as l've enjoyed this event the plus side is getting back to some kind of normalcy where it doesn't feel like l'm driving around with ice skates on.

Mark Madryga mentioned temps may actually fall abit today as he said very cold air aloft will drag down temps in heavier precip.

There's a couple of theories that did come to fruition that we're mentioned, last year one was it seems whenever we get a decent AR event in November it's usually followed by an Arctic blast at some point. Well we blew that one out of the water big time and the other was the Christmas to New Years Arctic blast over the years quite often l've seen this time period as being wintery, truth to these or just a coincidence.?

I now have zero doubt the rain train is almost necessary to get us towards an arctic outbreak. The other main precursor being a stratospheric warming event.
