I even don’t mind Nito’s posts really because every now and then he offers up some pretty good and objective analysis. It’s a couple of members who seem to log on and look for any sign of enjoyment and then go out of their way to disprove or let the air out of the room. Over and over again. We all know and understand that some of these snow maps are unrealistic. I don’t think anyone needs reminding of that fact in every second post from certain users. That’s my take anyway.
I agree. Some people were taking it to far. Nothing wrong with debating the models, but going out of ones way to depress them on purpose isn't cool.

Climo reality checks have a place in a weather forum, so long as they're not memed too hard or used for gloating purposes beyond a couple good-natured exchanges (I'm looking at you, :tumbleweed2: ).

Many of us here have, quite reasonably, questioned snow total maps up until tomorrow AM. We are not dismissing the possibility of a surprise, just stating that they are unlikely for the next 12-24 hours, and there's nothing wrong with that.
Good points as well.

I think offering up a reason for why they aren’t going to verify is legitimate. You do that and it comes off as genuine. Which is cool. But, that’s not really what’s happening with some other members.

No point even posting models that are obviously incorrect. Sure it's funny, but we all know they spit out junk far in advance.

Feel free to disagree but from my point of view but I don't think anyone on here set out to intentionally depress people. If they did then I don't think they'd be on a weather forum in the first place.

Sometimes people find the best way to deal with model or weather disappointment is to make light of the situation, which I can understand if others interpret that as depressing. But (imo) it isn't meant that way.

There's something really unsettling about seeing so much warmth in the northern hemisphere.

Gross. That looks like a pattern ripe for mild rain around here too. :dancepine:

I agree, I don't think anyone here is doing it on purpose, but it was starting to look that way. Nitos attacks on Michael for example.

The good thing now is the snow is more dense and wet, so you can actually do something with it. Powder snowballs are useless.

It is the process of energy distribution and cooling. Send the heat north and flush cooler air south. Heat energy increases air circulation. Provides more dynamic weather in certain conditions. Science knows this and that’s why global warming is dead and climate change is in.

Just to play devils advocate, Michael had been poking Nito for a long time too. I think in the January 2020 thread it got pretty nasty for a bit.

To tack on a thinly related side note, I think one thing many of us forget because of how skewed the active forum members are toward snow and cold, is that there are also a handful who would view snow as bad news. Let's perhaps remain mindful of that.

Yes, but because Nito kept pushing his buttons. Anyway, that's the point, we don't want things to get nasty around here. No reason, We have survived as a group pretty damn well since what, 2005 or so? I'd say we have a pretty sweet community compared to a lot out there, so why stir things up. Especially in the main weather monthly threads.

We have a general chat area where goofing around is all good.
