18z has really watered down the trough. Less amplification with the ridge over alaska = trough doesn't dig as far south and slides east.

Compare that with yesterday's 18z...

Still not too bad though; looking at a much deserved dry spell with highs around 16C and lows hovering around 6C. Compare that with some of the crazy runs earlier which hinted at the possibility of outlying areas dipping close to 0C

Speaking of lows and this being the last day of summer I have only had one or two days of temps dipping under 14°,my lows have consistently been between 14-17° all summer . If sheriff goose :police: was to see where my thermometer is located I'm sure he'd haul me away in handcuffs. Not many options when living in a condo.

Hopefully those are far and few between this season. We really need a good old fashioned blast... or 2... or 3.

Or we could go for the record....1861-62 style. Fraser River froze solid out to Vancouver from Dec thru Feb. Temps dipped to -27C at New Westminster in Jan 1862. The river remained frozen out in the valley and canyon thru mid April.

I feel like I’ve been outside on sporting fields for at least half of those 200mm.

Clear skies, dry offshore flow. Outlying areas will be cooler than 6. I suspect some will see their first light frosts of the year.
