I'll never forget one event Dec 1998, l was living in Poco at the time we had gone into an Arctic blast around Dec 20th or so, l believe the night of December 23rd there was a snowfall warning up for heavy snow it wasn't supposed to turn to rain well it did by late morning on the 24tn. I still remember the day before hearing Mark Madryga saying it would stay all snow we ended up with a good 25cm to 30cm. I remember going over Coquitlam Centre for some last minute Christmas shopping and feeling bumped out it had turned to rain, we had a white Christmas albiet a very wet and slushy one.
Edit: it was Dec/98 l looked it up says YVR had 20cm on the 24th and 20cm on the 25th. :o
Good memory. Yep we had a decent arctic blast (temps below freezing for a few days) followed by a snowstorm around Christmas 1998. Lots of rain right after though and warmed up quite a bit too.. incidentally I think the record daily high for YVR yesterday was from 1998.

Yes l remember that barely afew cm in Maple Ridge with that event didn't valley folk do well during that event l recall Abby sr was excited.
I remember seeing a You Tube video from Mission with 30cm on the ground l think in Maple Ridge we had no more than 10cm on the ground was also around the time remember when people were hearing those weird harmonic sounds.

l had to look up the year, not sure if the 40cm for YVR is correct l saw 20cm on the 23rd and 20cm on the 24th might be snow depth.
We were living in an apartment at the time so never got proper snow measurements.

Fraser River late this afternoon in New Westminster

Combined with the Ice floe/chunk buildup, the river is actually starting to freeze around barnston island. Looks like they're breaking it up to keep the ferry running though.

Nice, yeah last nights looked transitory as far as cold air, an El Nito delight, l'm thinking were not done just that feeling just feels different this year. I mean we all know eventually the inevitable will happen, could even happen next week who knows.
