Just a trace here but can't be disappointed. Hoping to crack into more than a trace though.

I flew into Seattle as the early February, 1989 cold snap was winding down, and I remember some bays and harbours being partially frozen.

In some cases, this is facilitated by fresh water inflow. Fresh water is less dense than salt water and hence tends to float on top of it.

In the mid-1980’s, Utah had a series of cold, snowy winters and in one of these some of the bays of the Great Salt Lake froze due to this phenomenon. Because the winters had been so snowy, lake levels were at record high, one of the frozen bays had encroached on farm land crossed by power pylons, and there was worry that when the ice broke up in the spring, the resulting icebergs would damage the pylons (this didn’t happen).
It's called clown range for a reason.

Love how models show snow all happy. Take away snow all sad. Then snow happens as originally modelled all happy. Snowing moderate here, enjoy.

If I get as much as a cm out of this light stuff I will be surprised (and happy).

It did insist we'd drop to -14/-15 at YVR last night too. It's really been on a winning streak lately.

Also we're breaking out of trace amounts in East Van!

You guys are like my #2 team haha. Lived in about 5 different locations in East Van from 2014 to 2018, such diverse microclimates.

The difference between say, the top of Nanaimo and the bottom was startling in December 2016. I think this year with these crazy temps it probably doesn't even matter.
