I think White Rock is more in line with the outflow than North Surrey. On the Wundermap you can see that diagonal line separating the -9s and the -11/-12 from South Surrey through Langley into the Fraser Valley.

How long are you stuck inside for. Hope it's not too long though it's cold enough out there it's not a bad time to be inside, imo.

Strange brew , how often am I colder than you
It is rare for sure!
A bit sheltered from the wind here. Odd though, we used to get wicked outflow winds here as well back in the days. Hasn't been like that in over 20 years!

As well the Olympics and Cascade range acts as a funnel to contain the Convergence zone.
Ah, thank you and  for the explanation. :D :D I guess they are a little hard to order from Amazon, even during their Boxing Day sales.

I was thinking the Dec/68 event when YVR hit their min. record l was in Coquitlam that winter up by Burquitlam plaza l wonder what the temp. would have been out there.
I remember that morning so well when l got up for school my mom telling what the temp was that morning., school was on that day they never cancelled. I had a mercury thermometer but our apartment faced south so it wasn't put up. Actually l did try putting it up outside my bedroom window but those concrete siding apartments built back then kinda use to chip.
I never did tell my parents. :shifty:

That arctic blast was a beast. At least we had clear skies with that one.

In some ways that's what ironically made it even more impressive. YVR recorded two straight highs below -10c despite the clear skies. Since then, most of our low max temps have been achieved under cloud cover.

Do you remember the big snowstorm on New year's eve 1968, following the extreme cold?
