Of the 80 nhl players who have it only a couple have had symptoms showing that being vaccinated works. The thing is are we always going to postpone games and stuff every new variant? Something needs to give soon because I didn’t get vaccinated just to not be able to do stuff. Don’t get me wrong, I’m safe I wear a mask I always sanitize my hands. But we need to reach a point where we can accept the fact we are vaccinated and go about our life.
Does this mean Dr. Bonnie and Adrian Dix news conferences everyday @ 2p.m. again. be kind and carry on like sheep.

I honestly don’t worry about that. People touch everything at a grocery store before you do. At the end of the day we need to eat so if I get Covid from that then oh well. Touching stuff isn’t easily transmissible it’s being around people etc.

Biden has already come out and stressed that this isn't the same as previous variants. I personally believe public health officials are waiting on more data but its possible that overwhelming public pressure will force their hand and just let this variant go because its already too late to stop it.

Variant isn’t anywhere close to what delta is. This is more contagious but less deadly. This is how pandemics end. A weaker variant takes over and becomes the main variant.

I know this. I'm just saying public health officials will always take a cautious approach especially after what has happened. I don't think any lockdowns or hard restrictions will stand the test of time if this variant continues to underwhelm in terms of serious disease. I am very curious to see how it plays out.

Personally I'm still happy with a small family gathering and punting anything bigger down the road. But In the bigger picture, people aren't going to be following these guidelines nearly as much this year and I don't blame them.

That's even worse than the lineups for free salt at the firehalls during winter 2016-17.

Thank goodness for vaccines or this could've been real bad. This has to be one of the most infectious variants of any virus ever. It's doubling every two facking days!

I ended up not getting tested. I read about the lines and I'm not doing that. Whatever this is is super mild with basically a sore throat at times.

At this point (or pretty soon) I'd say a pretty significant portion of the population has also got natural immunity through prior infection (vaccinated or not).

That's been shown to be less effective against this variant but obviously still better than nothing. For the record I believe this variant is more mild but could still potentially be dangerous to immunocompromised and older folks, especially unvaxxed. That's why I'm happy moving forward with minimal restrictions. It's going to hit everyone anyways, not much we can do at this point.
