And now with no interuption from sir Grumpy here is the unveiling of my new contraption.😎 I got a couple of poles for a chain link fence from Home Depot I drilled a couple holes to make it a telescopic pole to lower if I need to get at the weather station I used a couple of bolts with wing nuts to make it easier to remove the pole. My station is 20 feet in the air and it clears the roof tops around here for the utmost in accurate wind speed. I can publish to Weatherunderground or Cloud or WOW if I wish it is also a wifi station. For now I can log in using the website for my current conditions when I'm away from the house, I checked the reviews and found Ecowitt and Ambient Weather had good reviews but went with Ecowitt for the compact size of the station. Seems very accurate which is what matters most.
I love it! Congrats! :D

Last couple GFS runs less juicy at least over Metro Van. . It has precip going north and another band over SW Wash and NW Oregon. I actually can't believe how dry August has been so far in my area. The grass is starting to turn yellow. Only 8.8mm in Burke mtn gauge . That's weak. That system about 10 days ago missed us and went south and north so some areas have had a wet august like parts of Washington have been much wetter. And some long range models are now showing strong ridging for late August into September. The CPC is showing that too. Indian summer. We are overdue for one like we used to see in the 80s and early 90s.

Seems like we are most likely heading towards a warm stretch late in the month. I’d bet we see a relatively slow onset of our fall rains this year.

Looking like this will end up as the 11th consecutive drier than normal summer at Shawnigan Lake

I may look at upgrading soon... or maybe just refurbish my Davis with their updated rain gauge and temperature sensor.
Thanks Abby Sr. they also have a unit with separate wind, rain guage and temperature sensor. So you can put your wind apparatus on a pole your rain guage at ground level and the temperature sensor on a north facing location.

Dang...Welp, almost got through without a big time heatwave, but better off at the end of the summer before the rains come so it doesn't result in an extended forest fire season.
