Looks very similar. There was also a -PDO in 1971. My guess is that the majority of our significant NW flow snowfalls were during -PDO winters.
Only major difference is that southwest trough.

Weather has already turned cold, found a skim of ice in a mostly empty bucket at 4:30 pm

Almost every long range forecast is eye candy at this point. And it almost always wants to hammer us at the perfect time. Is this reality, or is this just fantasy?

I've been mentioning 1971-72 for a while but this upcoming pattern is looking less blocky/amplified than the pattern in Dec '71. But there are definitely some similarities

Also I'd say Mondays system is more akin to the Dec 13, 1971 snowfall.

Good evening everyone. Looking promising for 3 snow events for the bc south coast. First round Friday night into Saturday. Second round Sunday night into Monday. Third round for Tuesday night:) more snow possible later in the week. Fingers crossed here folks i’m keeping my eyes on it!
