Only major difference is that southwest trough.AbbyJr wrote: ↑Thu Dec 02, 2021 5:44 pm Abbotsford recorded 28.2 cm of snow on December 8, 1971. Here is the 500mb pattern for that day:

Notice the lack of GOA blocking and yet close to 30 cm of snow was recorded. Here's the modelled 500mb pattern for this upcoming Monday:

Looks very similar. There was also a -PDO in 1971. My guess is that the majority of our significant NW flow snowfalls were during -PDO winters.

Almost every long range forecast is eye candy at this point. And it almost always wants to hammer us at the perfect time. Is this reality, or is this just fantasy?

Cut back the totals a bit as the clipper moves through a touch quicker.

Re: December 2021 Forecasts And Discussions
I've been mentioning 1971-72 for a while but this upcoming pattern is looking less blocky/amplified than the pattern in Dec '71. But there are definitely some similaritiesAbbyJr wrote: ↑Thu Dec 02, 2021 5:44 pm Abbotsford recorded 28.2 cm of snow on December 8, 1971. Here is the 500mb pattern for that day:

Also I'd say Mondays system is more akin to the Dec 13, 1971 snowfall.
