Storm total up to 187.8mm in northeast Coquitlam.

I believe this is a new 48hr record for the station.

News1130 since becoming CityNews 1130 is now a complete joke. Worse than ever before. They have more news running about crap from everywhere else while ignoring the massive disasters unfolding in BC. Complete trash. They should have their licence taken away. Twitter is providing better news coverage.

The way we consume news has changed. I don't know of anyone who checks TV before they check Twitter. Twitter is a much better medium to consume information like this.

Was supposed to do work up in Meritt on Wednesday. I have been told the Coquihalla has sustained major damage in "several areas" which could take months to repair. The images I am seeing leads me to believe the road will require new bridges, culverts and retaining banks which could take a full year to complete.

There's also been landslides and slope destablization along Hwy 1 and 3 which will require extensive closure time to assess.

So... hwy 99 is the only way out of the mainland. The road is not in good condition between Pemberton and Lillooet. and will not be able to handle an increase in traffic.

Yeah, not a great road, even under normal conditions.

Literally the only connection unless you go via I90.

Models are coming around to more rain with only a 3 day dry break and another potential AR near day 8 which would be another 3 day event.

Agreed. It was much better before. They don't even have a traffic twitter account anymore. I found it useful during times like these.

Might this be the wrong time to be hoping for snow when there’s so much destruction from rain? Not sure… but SREF mean is showing some flakes later today

Wow. So I should probably cancel my Christmas reservation in Kelowna and forget about skiing at Manning this year. Sounds like a big deal.

But in the big picture the amount of goods that get trucked in from those highways...wow this is a huge problem.

Wonder how long it will take for the flooding to clear up? Malahat is closed currently. Flooding south/north of Duncan. 🤔🤦‍♀️
