Coquitlam special!Monty wrote: ↑Sun Nov 14, 2021 8:42 pm Some of the 0z models do pivot the Rain train slightly north of the eastern Fraser valley for a time tomorrow morning. Might be a bit of help for those areas. At the same time this will probably serve to focus the heaviest rainfall rates on southern Vancouver island and the north shore mountains of Vancouver. Could be the most intense rain of the event in the early morning hours for those areas
On top of what we've already had.

You really have to question what this upcoming winter may have in store, considering all of the weather extremes this year.

Re: November 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
I copy and pasted this from the Vancouver Sun website.
A previous flood watch for the Coquihalla River has been upgraded to a flood warning by the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development’s River Forecast.
A flood warning has also been issued for the Tulameen River and tributaries near Princeton and the Coldwater River near Brookmere (the river runs close to the Coquihalla Highway).
There continues to be a flood watch for the following rivers and waterways:
• Fraser Valley including surrounding tributaries
• Fraser Canyon tributaries, including tributaries around Hope
• Chilliwack River
• Englishman River
I wonder of the Fraser River will see large rises although that River is more affected by glacial melt and snowmelt.

Re: November 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
Wish there was some data for Abbotsford back to the Jan 1935 event. That is likely the most significant AR event ever recorded over parts of the south coast.
40-80cm of snow on the ground, followed by an ice storm, then copious amounts of rain and massive floods.
For example, the old Stave Lake station recorded 129.0mm of rain on the 23rd, followed up by 152.4mm of rain on the 24th. Alouette Lake had 142.2mm on the 21st, 65.8mm on the 22nd, 134.9mm on the 23rd, and 151.9mm on the 24th.

My station just hit 100.8 mm for today so far. Yesterday I recorded 25.4 mm so my storm total so far is 126.2 mm.

Re: November 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
There are 2 mudslides a km apart. Our friend is stuck in between. He has called us multiple time to update us on the situation. He is scared!! There are about 80 cars and a couple semi trucks trapped between the washouts. About 12-15 cars got washed away in the first slide that was in front of him. He tried to help the people screaming in their buried cars but the power lines are down and the mountains are cracking all around so he had to get out of there. He said the were able to get a family out of a car that got pushed by the second slide, but there is a child that is in desperate need of medical attention. It’s such a sad situation. The feeling of helplessness is heartbreaking. The search and rescue can’t get passage into the area yet. Highways are trying to get all the cars parked in the safest position in case there are more slides.Coquitlam79 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 14, 2021 8:36 pm Just heard Hwy 7 closed both directions 8km east of Agassiz due to a mudslide.

Re: November 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
The house I grew up in bordered that park. I played in it every other day as a kid growing up in the 80s-early 90's. I clearly remember a couple storms we went swimming in that pond a few times during previous heavy rains as the drain would backup, and it was a low section there. I was thinking of driving up there to take a look at it, I might do that in the morning as I still live somewhat close.

Re: November 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
I think Abbotsford is getting hit hard along with Cultus. Abbotsford McKee / Sumas mountains are dropping a lot of rain. A lot of stations reporting over 5" today. They highest reading on Eagle Mtn where an evac notice has gone out reports 6.7" I can tell you from driving, that is was raining harder at Mt Lehman than 248th each time driving through, so the stations can't be that consistent.
