I guess it depends on which Halloween you're looking at. I agree, I don't like the horror and scary Halloween but I do like the child's Halloween of dressing up and trick or treating. I remember going around with my son and there's something that feels really good about knocking on total strangers doors and getting candy, admiration for your costume and a friendly chat. I also like the pagan festival of Samhain which is what Halloween is derived from. It's Oct 31/Nov 1 and celebrateds the end of harvest, start of the dark half of the year and is a time when those who've passed over can come back and visit you.stuffradio wrote: ↑Thu Nov 04, 2021 8:09 am I like candy but not the underlying theme of Halloween of all the darkness and scary things. I'm not a fan at all of horror movies. In the Philippines they start Christmas music and decoration on September 1. We don't start any real decorating until November but I get excited seeing Christmas things in October and seeing the Halloween stuff disappear from stores. I also love the time of year of Christmas with the cheeriness of Christmas (besides the real meaning of Christmas), the fact that days are starting to get longer, my birthday, snow possibilities, new year etc. It's just happy all around.

Re: November 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
I only went Trick or Treating a few times but otherwise I helped handing out candy. I believe people have the right to decorate for Halloween of course, I just always look forward to Halloween being over.Weather101 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 04, 2021 8:19 am So your okay with the the trick or treating aspect ? I personally kinda like the dressing up and scary things. People can make amazing costumes and express themselves in a way that they won’t be judged. It’s a day where nothing is off limits and nothing is considered to crazy and Halloween get togethers are always fun. The kids always have a great time going house to house trying to see which house gives the best candy etc.
I definitely agree with you with the days getting longer I’ve always loved that and your right about the holiday cheer and happiness. I live the holidays it just takes me till the end of November to really get into it. But anytime I see snow forecasted in December there’s really no better feeling. I do love seeing houses go all out for Christmas decorations. We use to have a house that was completely lit up with like 20 elves and Santa Claus and reindeer. People would drive by and take pictures that was cool.

Crass corporatism is usually the answer/cause.Rubus_Leucodermis wrote: ↑Thu Nov 04, 2021 9:00 am Seriously, this. That would give Christmas 25 days, which would still be 25 times the number of days that any other holiday gets. Yet some people still apparently think for some reason that’s not enough. I just don’t get it.

ECMWF showing wet snow accumulations for our area this weekend. Something must have gone wrong because temps are between +6 to +9 .

Nice analysis Nito. But low snow levels around here can sometimes bring....like Catnip says >>#surpriseswetcoast91 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 04, 2021 2:59 pm ECMWF showing wet snow accumulations for our area this weekend. Something must have gone wrong because temps are between +6 to +9 .
My guess is maybe some sloppy slush in the hills...or a PornoMan exclusive?

Re: November 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
Kind of anomalous how these Lows off the coast can be dropping snow levels down so far, and so early in November. Oh right...daaaaa. Cold SST's. Normally temps would spike to 14c with snow levels at 2600m or so. Glad Mr Blob is long gone
Anyone look at the current SST's? What a eeeeeuge victory going into winter butties! Tell em Nito..tell em!
