Agreed when l lived at 49th Fraser back in 71/72 winter we had decent snowfalls there.
That corridor Tman Cambie, Fraser through to Victoria Dr. between 41st ave to 49th ave.
Of course from there you wind up in Burnaby central park. Yes north Burnaby does well upper Hastings l remember back in the day going from downtown along upper Hastings and sure enough rain to snow.

Fraser down to about ~57th is good (about 80-90m) for snow, then it really slopes down to Marine for the next few blocks to near sea level.

Rubus_Leucodermis wrote: Tue Oct 26, 2021 9:52 pm That’s quite the surprise. Place I’m renting is in Central Lonsdale at about 120 m elevation, so it shouldn’t be as lousy a location as right on the waterfront. If I move to East Van it will probably be even lousier for snow. But there’s value in living close to friends I already know.
I just moved from North Van and it's not where you wanna be for snow or anywhere on the North Shore for that matter. In borderline situations, it's always the last to cool down and first to warm up. Warm-nose central whether it is Lower Lonsdale, Central, or up around Montroyal.

East Van is better for snow.
It always snows in December in the Kootenays

I'd say the best area for snow within the city of Vancouver is in a rectangular area bordering Oak to the west, 33rd to the north, 57th/54th to the south, and Boundary to the east. You could nudge it a little to the NE of that up towards the Renfrew-Collinwood neighbourhood too.

As you say, these "snow belts" extend into burnaby as well, since they obviously aren't constrained by city borders.

Correct T3 including Main St. over to Oak the lower slopes not that good for snowfall including all along Marine Dr. you know your neighborhood snowfalls.
Living here all my life l've seen it all as far as neighborhood snowfalls good and bad.

You really notice it in those classic winters (unfortunately they don't happen too often anymore) with lots of marginal events. Cold rain or a few cm of slop down by Marine and once you get up the hill (and pass cars spinning out or broken down busses  ) on either Main, Fraser, Knight or Victoria past 57th and close to 49th, its a full out snowstorm with a thick blanket on the ground.

Thanks! I’ve been keeping my eye on Craigslist and there actually do seem to be lots of laneway houses that come up for rent in the areas around and just to the east of the 41st and 49th Avenue Canada Line stations. Maybe I will prioritize that area. Sort of suspected the area around Little Mountain/Queen Elizabeth park would be good for snow.
It's called clown range for a reason.

The 2 areas l lived in that were bad for snowfall was the Broadway corridor Kitsilano area and of course Richmond. But the whole Broadway corridor all the way to Boundary and continuing along Lougheed east.
The elevation doesn't vary too much it's pretty low.

Yup Cambie & 41st back in the late 60's early 70's Vancouver Cablevision had their cable 10 weather station there l remember it was afew degrees colder than where l lived down in Kitsilano.
But when we moved to 49th and Fraser it was accurate for that area.
