Quite dry, but they can get some good snowfalls. Her town is beside the ocean so quite mild in the winter. They only average 300mm of precipitation in a year, which is drier than Osoyoos. The wet season is July-September. Dry season is March-June.

Anchorage-Wasilla-Palmer, and the rest of the Cook Inlet has the luxury of the Kenai peninsula to the south, which creates a massive rain shadow.

There's a train tunnel that you can drive on that goes right through the mountain to Whittier on the other side. The tunnel is 4km long, and when you emerge out the otherside, you average over 5,000 mm of rain. Plus another 400mm that comes down as snow. Attended a wedding in Butte, MT this past weekend. The temps ran 34-64, bright sunny days. The fall colors driving from Helena to Butte we're outstanding but there is a still a large fire in a valley out there so smoke sat in some valley locations. If I can dig up a photo of the colors I'll post.

30 degrees still in Saskatchwan! My place was a half degree warmer than Osoyoos yesterday, for what it's worth.
