I think the UHI effect likely plays an effect in that, though that is likely more pronounced if we look at the larger increase in mild overnight low stretches at YVR and other stations across the region over the years.

Sustained warmth, by YVR/Vancouver relative standards (23c+, 24c+, etc). seems to show less of a dramatic increase in frequency though.
Correct. UHI is substantial with extreme heat days. Temp can vary quite a bit within a km of a forest to large paved areas. Luckily, we are lowering the paved surfaces generally in parking lots and switching roof types.

Well, I'll give credit where it's due. August has been great and saved this summer from a complete apocalypse. Only one short albeit extreme heat wave. Getting tons of yard work done here. The noxious weeds had completely taken over, especially the blackberries and stinging nettle.

To be honest, I expected two heat waves in August and above average temperatures during the periods where it wasn't uncomfortably hot.

I'm glad I was wrong.

Now lets bring on an epic cold and snowy winter. :D

Yeah it has been a very nice month besides that heatwave earlier.

I was in Calgary today and at 3pm it was 11C and blowing hard.
It always snows in December in the Kootenays
