Only 25.5C here at nearly noon.

I really can't see 35C happening.
It always snows in December in the Kootenays

Truly disgusting here in Bellingham with a hot, smoky east wind. AQI solidly in the unhealthy range. Temp 34ËšC.
It's called clown range for a reason.

Nope. There was a prevailing theory that average yearly temps would increase by 1C and our climate would be most resilliant to change. Less snow, slightly milder but less extremes here. Big difference to what we are seeing. The summer extremes are doing more harm to the ecology than what wetter winters can offset.
To which fires are you referring? It seems like the vast majority of wildfires across the province this year have occured and are occuring in semi-arid regions.

Fire suppression over the decades and last century has undoubtedly heightened the fire risk in many areas, as we've witnessed more dense forest creep into historically grassland ecosystems/regions (like the Thompson, Okanagan and east Kootenay valleys). These are dry and warm areas to begin with... once you add in the effects of climate change like longer droughts/heatwaves, the already heightened risk is elevated even further.
Mostly speaking about the fires on the Coq and near Harrison Lake. Along with the fires down in the Pacific Coastal Range.

This is just awful. The very destruction of our ecosystem before our eyes. Not on the fence anymore.

36.1C with a NE wind gusting to 54km/h and 16% relative humidity in Abbotsford at the moment. We should consider ourselves lucky if we get through the next couple of days without new fires out that way.

I'm sure there's a few dozen guys in their F150's trying their best to make it happen by throwing cigarette butts out the window.

About time, it was ridiculously low. It should be close to 38C, or at least warmer than the September record (37.5C).
