Lots of smoke in Kamloops right now. Wasn't too bad late this afternoon but visibility has really dropped this evening. Not sure if any surrounding fires have gotten worse or if it's just due to a wind shift.

The flow aloft is weakening. I imagine we will see a lot of smoke settling into the valleys this week. Less wind could mean quieter fire activity but smoke could very possibly ground aircraft with low visibility.

Warm tonight. Still 21C.

I’m enjoying watching the olympics. Really dialed in on the beach Volleyball and synchro diving.

The only good thing is it remains predominately a SW flow aloft to keep the smoke at bay, but they need rain in the interior and I don't see any.

Looking likely we see a disturbance flatten the ridge in the day 7-9 period but models seem uncertain what to do after that. Could be some uncertainty with a fair amount of tropical activity in the pacific. GEFS doesn’t really have a strong signal either way. While the GEPS seems to favour quickly rebuilding the ridge after day 10. Southern interior looks dry the next 10 days either way. Could be some scattered lightning tomorrow though. ⛈

I got back from Golden today. It is GROSS, GROSS, GROSS pretty much anywhere along that entire route. Basically it's varying levels of disgusting from about just north of Merrit. There's a fire on Larson Hill frighteningly close to highway 5. Saw helicopters throwing buckets on that one. Kamloops is particularly nasty. Sicamous is absolutely horrid. Three Valley Gap fires are still smoldering. Revelstoke- socked in. Golden is gross. No sun. All smoke. Smells like a campfire and we sneezed pretty much nonstop. I could not WAIT to get back to the coast.

Are we really gonna hit 40C again or did models back off? And does anyone see any offshore flow in the models? I am hoping all the smoke doesn't blow over here. 😩 I know...everyone wishes the same. I feel bad for everyone in the interior. It is just gruesome out there and I personally would not be having fun on any summer vacations if it were me. Pretty awful that what was once our few months of sanity free from rain/cold/ clouds/ snow cannot be counted on anymore because we can't have summer without smoke now. Blech.

SO glad to be outta there.

Sounds more like the trip from hell Mrs. Bugs.
Usually head up to Kelowna every summer for a long weekend but not this year. Was thinking going up the Cariboo but forget that as well.
Pretty much socked in with smoke everywhere in the interior. As for the hot weather coming up E.C. is showing 31c for the central valley on one day.
Hope that's as high as it gets that l can tolerate.

Doesn’t look too bad in the Cariboo right now

The models have backed off on the 40C but it still looks hot (low-mid 30's inland) next week. Thankfully, the SW flow looks to continue so wildfire smoke reaching the coast is not a concern as of of yet.

Let's hope it stays that way! For the smoke, the temperature has been pretty nice this week, just need some rain now and it would be perfect.
