Looks like a possibility, at least for FV areas.

Always happens when we least expect it, it seems.
It always snows in December in the Kootenays

The 7th annual snowfall contest is canceled due to no snow this winter.

Global weather mentioned it and l was checking radar through the afternoon and evening. It was interesting that some of the cells really tried to move towards the eastern valley. Have you seen much lightning this week Glace?

No, I saw one flash last night off to the east. Also, I've had 1.3 mm of rain so far this month, 1.0mm coming between 1 and 3 am this morning.

Been about 25 days since we last had rain across most of the lower mainland and it continues to look nice and dry for the foreseeable future per the 12z GFS ensembles:

:sherlock: :cops: bad location Goose man, inaccurate readings, located over dirt and sage brush which radiates heat emmensily.

Looks like Vanderhoof is ground 0 for Tstorms this evening according to latest radar images.
I think Ty my man has family in that area.

Yes, Thunderstorms in Vanderhoof isn't good for my family there.

About the heat wave:

Yale climate connections:

"Never in the century-plus history of world weather observation have so many all-time heat records fallen by such a large margin than in the past week’s historic heat wave in western North America. The only heat wave that close is the great Dust Bowl heat wave of July 1936 in the U.S. Midwest and south-central Canada. But even that cannot compare to what happened in the Northwest U.S. and western Canada over the past week.

“This is the most anomalous regional extreme heat event to occur anywhere on Earth since temperature records began. Nothing can compare,” said weather historian Christopher Burt, author of the book “Extreme Weather.”

Pointing to Lytton, Canada, he added, “There has never been a national heat record in a country with an extensive period of record and a multitude of observation sites that was beaten by 7°F to 8°F.”
