Re: July 2021 Forecasts And Discussions
Wow. Not surprises given the awful hot feel of the night air last week. I think Monday night felt the worst. Not sure which night SFU never went below 29.
Which makes me wonder what weather station recorded that.

Praying for your family as well as everyone else affected. My uncle is evacuated from Deka Lake also. My sister is in Kamloops and was affected by the Juniper fire...their house wasn't in the path of it but my brother in law is RCMP so he was running around evacuating everybody from the areas in danger. It's crazy how many of my family members are being threatened by fires right now.Sardisbcwx wrote: ↑Sun Jul 04, 2021 6:04 am Praying the fire stay's away from your in laws cabin, my sister and family were evacuated from the Deka lake fire just afew day's ago, sucks when your family is affected by these damn fires.

Re: July 2021 Forecasts And Discussions
We have a cabin at Charlotte Lake in the West Chilcotin region and have been under evacuation order once before in 2004 and a few times since then we have been under evacuation alert. The closest the fire came in 2004 is about 4km. It's definitely stressful. The one thing about the fires in the Cariboo Chilcotin region is they burn through alot of beetle kill and dead fall so their is so much fuel available. However we are in a much better shape than we were even a few years ago. After the well-known interface fires of 2003, the government gave out grants to communities and also associations of cabin owners and recreational facilities for fire prevention measures. We also pooled alot of our own money and we hired contractors to basically put up fire guards around the recreational community and also to clear the forest floor of dead fall, cut down and remove dead trees and also erect signs in the forest service free campsites warning of the high winds and to be careful with fires. What my brother and dad often do is we will go and basically rake the forest floor on our own property removing all the large sticks, we'll cut down diseased trees and dead trees and once the fire danger starts to creep up, we set up emergency pumps with firehoses in case we have to water down the property or even fight a fire if it ever came to that.Leighbugs wrote: ↑Sun Jul 04, 2021 3:29 am I'm so nervous...my in-laws family cabin at Paska Lake is under evacuation from the Durand Lake fire and then as of yesterday a fire popped up AT Paska, in fact the fire icon on the map shows it practically directly across the lake from the cabin. However, if it were to burn further westward or sparks flew across the lake...I can't even fathom it. That cabin has been the center of many precious family memories since 2004. I am praying so hard that it doesn't burn.

Re: July 2021 Forecasts And Discussions
I'm not entirely sure which intersection you are talking about. Are you talking about in Cache Creek or at highway 99 and 97 north of Cache Creek (near Hat Creek)? Which direction?Sardisbcwx wrote: ↑Sat Jul 03, 2021 10:25 pm For those in the know, when you take the Pemberton route it comes out just north of Cache Creek, what's the sign at the Junction to Hwy. 1 there say? Hat creek ranch? I guess l could Google street view it but too lazy.
Cache Creek coming in from the south...
Cache Creek coming in from the east...
Cache Creek coming from the north...
Highway 99 and 97 intersection coming from west...
Same intersection from the south..

I’d go with southsardiswx, as south Chilliwack kinda makes me think of the airport area and the freeway, right where Sardis starts.Sardisbcwx wrote: ↑Mon Jul 05, 2021 1:19 pm Unscientific poll been thinking of a name change either to SouthSardiswx or SouthChilliwackwx which one should l go with?
