Enjoy the relatively mild weekend. No sign of much appreciable warmth in the models at this point.

Re: April 2019 Forecasts and Discussions
After such a wet April, I'd almost expect a warm/dry May or June.

That's one cold trough modeled on the 18z for next weekend. Freeze next Sunday?

A warm and dry June would surprise me (positively) at this point. Not that I don't think we deserve it but there is a reason we've coined the name "Juneuary" in these parts

Re: April 2019 Forecasts and Discussions
Having lots of rain in June contributes to less fires. Have we already forgotten two straight miserable summers? I'm always amazed how so many people think we are owed hot weather when that's all we've had for 7 straight summers. It's not like this winter/spring were particularly wet either.moonshadow0825 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2019 7:59 am A warm and dry June would surprise me (positively) at this point. Re: April 2019 Forecasts and Discussions
Good point Stuck at home Person....but a wet June, usually on the coast.. doesnt necessarily translate to less forest fires as most of them are in the Interior which is usually bone dry after the snow melts and moisture exits the ground..
And here it is..December 2024 all snow geeks have been waiting for ..with the LR weather "charts" calling for a cold and snowy month. Where's the troffing?

I heard the ice is off at our Cabin at Watch lake in the Cariboo. Couple of weeks earlier than last year if I remember correctly.

Watch lake is at 3,500 ft , hawk's lakes are over 4,000 ft , my guess is they're still frozen.

Re: April 2019 Forecasts and Discussions
The lake is in a tight valley with relatively high mountains on either side so it's a slow melt in the spring. By March there may only be about 5 or 6 hours of sunlight a day that hits the lake.

Re: April 2019 Forecasts and Discussions
Bleh... enough rain! There's really no need for additional rain right now. The ground is saturated, so the excess just runs off. I understand needing rain during fire season, but getting buckets of rain right now won't help us later. It's all in the timing.
