We do have bobcats here, I usually see at least one a year. I've always seen them hunting chickens, had a gorgeous one, big male come 2 years in a row, he would jump down through the netting over my pens, grab a chicken and climb back up a fence post, push through the netting and take off with it. I ended up locking the chickens in for a couple of weeks.

I went out to chase a different one off, he was sitting mesmerized by the chickens and didn't run until I was about 10' away. I was just beginning to wonder if he was going to run or if I should stop when he took off.

I have noticed that when you have livestock you often see the wild life because they see it and will alert you to it. If the chickens hadn't been making a racket, I never would have seen any of them, they blend right in.

The dog knows if the chickens are screaming to go check them out. Today she alerted me to a hawk sitting on a post trying to decide if he could get under the netting.

Once your dog is up and about that should keep the bobcat away. How is she doing?
Thanks for the detailed rundown, actually very helpful! Our doggie is actually doing so amazing. She's basically back up and running. Hardest part is slowing her down now. Hopefully soon she can spend more time outside and scare off these predators. She's never been one to kill anything, not even a rat, but her presence is protection regardless.

I'm not 100% sure if it was a bobcat but if it was a house cat it was a mutant. Its just weird because we haven't traditionally had them in this area. But we read on a neighbourhood facebook page there was one hanging around, and next thing you know there's one hanging out on top of our outdoor cat area (also known as a catio). Not sure if this is true but apparently there are a bunch of Cougars hanging around near Maple Ridge. Hopefully they don't end up swimming over here.

Informative read you guy's. One of our neighbors spotted a Lynx walking through the neighbors yard afew years ago. That video is hilarious the guy's cussing at the cat and it's growling away. Probably freaked out thinking only my mom picks me up by the scruff.

Lots of broad ridging in the N pacific thru the long range. Cool showery and generally unsettled. Low snow levels.
