Re: February 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
Jerusalem / Al Quds seems to get a good dump of snow every few years or so, so this is not as unusual as many might assume. Damascus is at a similar elevation, so it snowing there is no big surprise.
Get higher up yet and the Levant can be very snowy. There are ski resorts in Lebanon and the Golan Heights. The name “Lebanon,†in fact, comes from an ancient word meaning “white†or “snowy.â€Â
It's called clown range for a reason.

Re: February 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
I see the GFS is still modeling the Wednesday night/Thursday morning disappointment. Why does it keep trying?

Trying to bait us. But it looks like a quick 2cm at higher elevation followed by rain. And that will likely bust too.VanCitySouth wrote: ↑Sun Feb 21, 2021 9:25 am I see the GFS is still modeling the Wednesday night/Thursday morning disappointment. Why does it keep trying?

Using a high of -4c or below as a benchmark for a cold day in Vancouver, this is what it looks like over time...
