Jerusalem / Al Quds seems to get a good dump of snow every few years or so, so this is not as unusual as many might assume. Damascus is at a similar elevation, so it snowing there is no big surprise.

Get higher up yet and the Levant can be very snowy. There are ski resorts in Lebanon and the Golan Heights. The name “Lebanon,” in fact, comes from an ancient word meaning “white” or “snowy.”

I see the GFS is still modeling the Wednesday night/Thursday morning disappointment. Why does it keep trying?

Trying to bait us. But it looks like a quick 2cm at higher elevation followed by rain. And that will likely bust too.

Quite windy here this morning... had a gust to 55 km/h not long ago. Not much rain yet.

Euro shows 4-8cm here mid week. No love for Vancouver though
