It didn’t amount to much. Mostly mixed rain and snow though the afternoon. Bare Ground turned briefly white and slushy.

Re: February 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
Yes unfortunately we all suffer now. Except these types of temperatures will produce snow in the Similkameen. It also looks like there is an AR event coming early next week and this also looks to produce a significant amount of snow
I'm hoping the mountain tops receive 30 to 60 more cms in the next 7 days
January 2025 incoming..looks like more Pineapples..Happy New Year!

Re: February 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
EC forecasts past 72 hours suck. It should look more like this up there:
https://www.theweathernetwork.com/ca/we ... ation-site
..popping above 0c for maybe 24 hours or so..possibly some light rain. Then the cold front sweeps thru again

Re: February 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
This winter sucked big time! Worst winter here in a very long time. If winter is over then bring on summer, boating fishing dirt biking! Wind storms thunder storms something better than this boring depressing crap. It is dreary outside, some slush covered grass and cloudy skies. I assume winter is done, good riddance to you.

I have seen increased chatter on Twitter about this over the last ~week. The consensus from the leading atmospheric scientists seems to be that Global Warming is causing a decreased frequency of arctic outbreaks, but Kristi Gordon says it is causing increased frequency of Arctic Outbreaks.

Re: February 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
Central and Eastern portions of NA have definitely seen their fair share of extremely significant/historic arctic blasts over the past decade. January/February 2014, February/March 2015, late Dec/early Jan 2018, January 2019 and now Feb 2021 being the most notable examples.stuffradio wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 11:38 am https://globalnews.ca/news/7647432/are- ... e-extreme/

The western third of NA (excluding Montana) hasn't really seen any events of the same magnitude though. While some of our area (PNW) has witnessed some extended cold spells that make for impressive 30-60 day average temps (Dec 2016, Feb 2019), there has been a complete absence of extreme cold like what's happening in Texas right now, or across the northeast US in late Dec 2017 into early Jan 2018.

Re: February 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
That's true. I'm not an Atmospheric Scientist and I'm no expert, I'm just relaying the information that the Atmospheric Scientists have been saying articles like these trying to link extreme Arctic Outbreaks to Global Warming is more harmful than good.Typeing3 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 11:54 am Central and Eastern portions of NA have definitely seen their fair share of extremely significant/historic arctic blasts over the past decade.
