ECMWF has an atmospheric river impacting the South Coast starting Fri through Monday.

GFS had a run of the mill system with a quick hitting baroclinic boundary passing Monday.

Each bring a trough in by late Monday.

This is when living in Squamish pays off in these scenarios, it paid off in the end!
Congrats on your snow!!!

Woke up to rain. Still have a good covering of white but it's typical west coast snow, wet, slushy and slippery.

EC still determinedly hanging onto their snowfall warning for the Sunshine Coast, any idea why? I'm hoping they know something no one else does

Snowfall warning in effect for:

Sunshine Coast - Gibsons to Earls Cove
Sunshine Coast - Saltery Bay to Powell River
Snowfall with total amounts of 10 to 15 cm continues.

Snow continues this morning with a further 5 to 10 cm before it changes to rain by this afternoon.

Total snowfall accumulation of 10 to 15 cm is expected.

Right now half of the country of Mexico is colder than here and colder than it was last week. What a joke.
Galveston, Texas this morning. Snow on the beach.

Yeah. Just really wet.

Weak signal on this run for anything cold. Looked like it was going to be a solidly cold period the next 10 days but the GFS and ECMWF op runs have considerably warmed the next 7 days up.

Edit: Higher elevation snows maybe Wed into Thurs this week.

Yes I agree but I am stuck in the Similkameens where it has been snowing since last night. Temperature holding steady at -7 Celsius and maybe only 5cm has fallen. Victory after victory in the Similkameens

Radar wrote: Mon Feb 15, 2021 10:40 am It's the Smilkameen. They don't get big snow unless you are above 5,000ft. Smilkameen area is only good for dirt bike riding, fishing, and river tubing.
This year has seen snow way above average and large dumps. 3x 1 foot snowfalls and then 22" in 24 hours. Add into that multiple more snow falls of between 1 cm and 5 cm and when I say multiple I'm going to say maybe 30 or 40 of those..maybe more

And yes Radar I am going ice fishing now. And where I go snowmobiling is usually around the 5000 foot elevation. But you don't need to be that high to get a lot of snow. Usually around 4,000 ft and it's deep

Didn't realize how much snow fell overnight here. Seems to have finally stopped snowing and the sun is poking thru. 35-40cms still on the ground in my yard here in Nanaimo.

Count me out of that. We need another July 2009 heatwave this summer. Hopefully YVR can crack 35c.
