Re: February 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
I picked up 1-2 cm in Newton. Up on the hills the trees are all white. At Bear Creek park it didn't look like it snowed at all. Spent the afternoon in Fleetwood sledding. Probably snowed 2-3 cm while we were there.

Should start out has heavy rain but HRRR catching that as well. Interesting to see it keeps indicating snow for the Western portion of Metro Van. No outflow signal on the meso model.

I think you may be underestimating the strength and depth of the cold in the interior.wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 14, 2021 5:36 pm Later this evening but looks like it should be mostly rain below 300m.
Look down south towards the northern Willamette valley. They were modeled and forecast to be all rain by late yesterday, yet they’re hanging on to frozen precip until tonight, at least for low!
Not saying this is a slam dunk for us, but perhaps tomorrow morning could be the snowiest so far...

It does usually end with us getting more snow on the transition to rain, however it’s much more fun to get snow and then a few days of cold vs snow to rain.Wintergirl wrote: ↑Sun Feb 14, 2021 4:09 pm Trust me I know the feeling...it has been a big let down here in Squamish too. Just the cold and wind! Started snowing about an hr ago pretty heavy and blowing with the winds so maybe Squamish and Chilliwack score tonight when others get rain
Eastern hillsides chilliwack.

Diabetic cooling? Is that like an ice bath that uses sugar instead of salt to lower the melting point in order to keep insulin cold?
It's called clown range for a reason.

Squamish, Chilliwack, and just about everyplace else in the Pacific Northwest. Maybe 15% of the cold snaps I’ve experienced in the Northwest have come with a nice batch of what I call “leading snow.†Sure is nice when it happens.East Chilliwack wrote: ↑Sun Feb 14, 2021 5:54 pm It does usually end with us getting more snow on the transition to rain, however it’s much more fun to get snow and then a few days of cold vs snow to rain.

Remarkably consistent 0c on 95% of the stations on the weather u/g right now. This has to be a good thing yeah?
Burnaby Mountain @ 365 m..

as others have said it snowed all day here until about 4ish, picked up a couple of cm, mostly wet. 0c and 0 dewpoint right now, dewpoint never got above 0 but temp rose to about 1.5C
bit of mixed precip right now. be interested to see if temp drops enough to snow again

Normally I would agree but the cold Interior pool has been wiped out. Lytton has warmed up to -3 and Kamloops -2.Willoughby wrote: ↑Sun Feb 14, 2021 5:47 pm I think you may be underestimating the strength and depth of the cold in the interior.

Any dynamic cooling tonight will be due to trajectory of the low and intense precip rates...similar to what occured on Dec 21.

I think we're running a tiny bit cooler than modeled?
