IIRC, this bit in particular really stung because the 2014 totals ended in February, then we went 2014/15 and 15/16 with nothing in BOTH years, before picking things back up in December 2016.Typeing3 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 13, 2021 5:41 pm

Re: February 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
That's for reasons that we can't usually discuss here due to reasons...but in our modern climate I consider this 5 year run a win. Maybe not as good as say 2004-2009. But compared to some other half decades of winters in the last 30 years its not even close.Typeing3 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 13, 2021 5:41 pm

That really exists. It's in France, south of the city of Auxerre.
France has many fun city names...

Really? Here's the rest of the list going back 30 years. I've highlighted years where snowfall exceeded the relatively recent 1971-2000 averages, something YVR hasn't seen in over 12 years now....PortKells wrote: ↑Sat Feb 13, 2021 5:45 pm That's for reasons that we can't usually discuss here due to reasons...but in our modern climate I consider this 5 year run a win. 2cm in Nov 2014 and 1cm in Jan 2016, but yeah I get your point. That was an extremely rough stretch.VanCitySouth wrote: ↑Sat Feb 13, 2021 5:45 pm IIRC, this bit in particular really stung because the 2014 totals ended in February, then we went 2014/15 and 15/16 with nothing in BOTH years, before picking things back up in December 2016.

Any reason in particular?

Re: February 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
How about 97 to 03? Edit: I guess they weren't as bad as I thought after reading those totals. But regardless..
I think our climate sucks more due to human caused global warming and other environmental factors like the heat island effect. We still can squeeze some decent events out of it. And every once in a while we might get something great.
But I think its the exception now. The 50s were a half a degree ago globally which sounds small but it isn't. Our cold is much more moderate and much more rare. Therefore snow totals should be expected to decrease with time.

Re: February 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
Every time I think the lingering snow showers are done, more seem to pop up over me on the radar. Not accumulating very fast, mind you, but it is still accumulating. Now up to 19 cm and counting.
It's called clown range for a reason.

Re: February 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
Had a nice drive out to Belcarra. They got screwed. Sad lands indeed - 3 cm. Went up to Westwood Plateau and I’d say they have about the same as I do (maybe a smidge more at the golf course - hard to tell). Snow kept falling at a steady clip all afternoon (less so in the sad low lands). Back up my mountain and we definitely got more snow after I left. Roads now covered partially again and icy! The snow is so sparkly like in the mountains. -1 at the bottom and -4 at the top outside my door. Clearing from the west yet still crystals falling from the sky. It would have been so nice to hang onto this for a few weeks. Should get chilly tonight I think which hopefully helps for tomorrow’s system.
Burnaby Mountain @ 365 m..
Stats? Fresh out of those. But I win anyway. I got all the inches.

I haven’t officially measured yet but looks like we ended up with very close to 30cm. I measured 12†on my mom’s driveway which is t far away.
