Re: February 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
Dang, I just went above freezing... 0.1C. I was NOT expecting that today. I forgot about the effects of solar in mid February even with cloudy skies.
Better go outside and measure now...

Completely stopped. Sitting at 8cm
Not bad considering the models were showing nothing a couple days ago. Get some more tomorrow and February will save the season again.

Re: February 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
Of course, I type that and it picks up again. Temperature is up to -2ËšC, dew point -4ËšC. Wind is less and it is coming down in larger flakes. Really looks photogenic. Probed for where I left my snow board, located it, put it up on top, and am using it now. 2 more cm, so now 18 cm total and still coming down.Rubus_Leucodermis wrote: ↑Sat Feb 13, 2021 1:09 pm Still snowing but generally starting to taper off now. 16 cm (determined by finding a spot minimally affected by drifting/scouring and averaging multiple measurements). May score a little bit more but that's probably close to what the overall total will end up being.
Neighborhoods in the hills are reporting more like 20 cm. So my Reddit forecast of 15–20 cm for Bellingham looks like it will be spot-on!

Re: February 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
Weird. Still -2ËšC here. My guess is that the falling snow is evaporating and helping to hold my temps down.
Despite it being overcast and below freezing, there is melting evident on the parked cars here. Apparently an appreciable amount of solar radiation is making it through.

Interesting... looks like most stations up here are right at freezing.Rubus_Leucodermis wrote: ↑Sat Feb 13, 2021 2:30 pm Weird. Still -2ËšC here. My guess is that the falling snow is evaporating and helping to hold my temps down.
