Different story had the PV resided over BC instead of being near Thunder Bay. This is a homegrown arctic airmass thats very dry.

Still impressive that its remaining cold. I'm amazed temps haven't warmed up with the channeling and near-downsloping we are seeing.
Thats why when we first started tracking this winter event, it was looking a lot more memorable. Some model runs had the PV right over BC and the PNW. Those solutions quickly vanished and we ended up with a typical run of the mill dry continental arctic trickle. :bang: :bang: :bang:

Pumpkin Seed wrote: Thu Feb 11, 2021 10:29 am That’s why I don’t like any epic or extreme cold which means all the good stuff always go south and we end up getting nothing, maybe just a few cm of slushy snow at the end of the event as consolation prize or even worse just cold rain.
The thing is... this kind of setup doesn't deliver extreme cold to the south coast.

More often than not when we get the extreme cold it's either preceded by a snowfall or ends in a big overrunning event.

Really feels like Saturday is the one that got away. Fairly strong system dropping down from the WNW is a great track for a snowstorm around these parts.

It's just too bad it looks to be suppressed and completely split which really helps the moisture get shredded by the outflow.

We'll probably have to wait till May or June for that if we end up with a spring 2008 or 2011 repeat.

Some clearing to our North. Finally maybe the skies will clear. Hopefully tonight we can get some damn good lows for once.
